Overview:
Reports To: Lab Supervisor, Doctor/Managing Doctor, SDD, SRPM
Direct Reports: None
Purpose: Provide a quality-oriented and visually attractive product that meets or exceeds doctor and patient expectations and desires in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide a quality product in a timely manner
- Ensure product meets specifications (thickness, carvings, polishings, etc.)
- Provide a clean product with no acrylic spurs or bubbles
- Meet patient''s expectations for aesthetics and function
- Complete repairs during patient visit or within 24 hours
2. Effectively communicate with patients, doctor and staff
- Read and understand prescriptions as to specifications and ask questions if clarification is needed
- Communicate appropriate turnaround dates to doctor and staff and meet guarantees
- Perform efficient procedures to maintain doctor''s schedule
- Effectively answer patient and doctor questions and address any concerns
- Thoroughly educate patients about oral hygiene and product care
- Effectively handle, direct and/or resolve patient complaints
3. Ensure lab operates in an efficient and organized manner
- Manage work flow in an effective and efficient manner
- Monitor all incoming cases for required impressions and specifications
- Ensure quality assurance of all outgoing cases
- Adhere to all OSHA guidelines
- Sterilize and seal all products according to OSHA guidelines
- Monitor level of lab supplies
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of lab area
- Be aware of and follow associate schedule by arriving on time for all scheduled shifts
Qualifications:
Lab Technician Levels
Lab Technician I:
- Little or no experience
- Ability to learn and perform the following:
- Read prescriptions and examine models and impressions to determine type of product to be made
- Pour accurate models with no bubbles
- Build and shape models based upon observations and specifications
- Rebuild linings to duplicate original thickness, contour and color
- Invest and process clean cases in a timely manner
- Polish cases without burning acrylic or teeth
Lab Technician II:
- Two or more years previous lab experience
- Ability to complete Lab Technician I responsibilities in addition to:
- Wax and finish quality cases, relines and repairs in a timely manner
- Bend wire to construct wire frames for partials and repairs
- Select and mount replacement teeth to match color and shape of natural or adjacent teeth
- Ensure materials are properly labeled under OSHA guidelines

- Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment

- High degree of manual dexterity
- Able to produce detailed and precise work
- Ability to interact and communicate with doctors, patients and other team members
