Spotlight on… Operations Leader Lisa Shannon

Today, the spotlight is on Lisa Shannon. She’s the Operations Leader at DentalWorks Belden in Canton, Ohio. She joined the DentalOne family three months ago. Let’s dive into her Q. and A.!

Q: Why did you choose to join the DentalOne family? And what sets DentalOne apart from other organizations?

A: Every job is a stepping stone to your next position. The Operations Leader position and company aligned with my personal brand. This company has many opportunities for career growth, and that is very important to me.

Q: What three words would you use to describe your role as a dental office manager and why?

A: Proactive. I share my vision and strategy often with those around me. Empowering. I help others make good decisions. Strategic. I create plans to achieve goals and encourage my team to become engaged.

Q: As a leader, how do you keep your team motivated and excited about providing top-notch patient care?

A: I provide them with a pleasant place to work. I set clear goals and keep them posted daily with reminders of hitting bonus. I foster collaboration and create a fun environment by hosting a little competition between team members. I always share positive patient comments in a group setting to help encourage them and make them feel special.

Q: What advice would you give to others who are considering accepting a position as an Operations Leader with DentalOne?

A: Our job is about people, but most importantly, it’s about doing. We are in charge of getting things done and creating actions. Focus on getting your team motivated, and the company will give you the tools to make you successful. That is why we call our Directors of Market Operations our support.

Q: What’s been your most memorable moment while working for DentalOne?

A: The training that I was offered when I was a new employee. A company that invests in its employees is better in the long run.

Q: What makes your team unique?

A: The longevity of a few team members along with the strong bonds they have with our doctor.

Q: If you had to describe your team in one word, what would it be and why?

A: Compromises. The reason I chose this word is because working as a team is the only way a business gets things done. There is much give and take, and we can’t please everyone. It’s like magic; you have to find the strengths in each team member and put them into a strategic plan to get your end results.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Someone is always depending on me, and I’m able to make an impact every day. I get to be involved in almost every aspect of the business.

Q: What is your motto or personal mantra and why?

A: “You are where God wants you to be at this very moment. Every experience is part of his divine plan.” My second one is, “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others,” by Jack Welch.

Q: What do our patient pillars (schedule, wallet and patient friendly) mean to you?

A: DentalOne cares about patient relationships and making dentistry affordable by proving patients with money solutions.
