Spotlight on… Operations Leader Laura Boatright

Today, the spotlight is on Laura Boatright. She’s the Operations Leader at DentalWorks Twelve Oaks in Novi, Michigan. She joined the DentalOne family eight years ago. Let’s dive into her Q. and A.!

Q: Why did you choose to join the DentalOne family? And what sets DentalOne apart from other organizations?

A: I was interviewed in one of our now-closed practices (Summit Place) by the Operations Leader and lead Dental Assistant May Michael for a part-time Dental Assistant position. I had just received my Dental Assistant certification, and my aunt mentioned the office was looking for some help. She told me how the lovely staff and doctors were putting a special emphasis on May and her role. When I went for my interview, I was more than impressed by May’s charm and her knowledge of the field being a 10-year employee. She told me all about the company and its benefits and explained how the best thing about her job was seeing patients smile. From that point on, I have worked closely with May, and she has inspired me in more ways than I can count.

Q: What three words would you use to describe your role and why?

A: Efficiently. I take care of patients/staff concerns in a timely manner before escalating. Team player. I dip into different roles in the office and assist in all possible ways. Leader. I manage the staff and make sure the needs of the business are met.

Q: As a leader, how do you keep your team motivated and excited about providing top-notch patient care?

A: I make sure my team members have the tools they need to keep patients well informed. This helps patients better understand dental necessities and helps team members treat patients like they are family, because after all, we are a team and a family practice!

Q: What advice would you give to others who are considering accepting a position as an Operations Leader with DentalOne?

A: Be prepared for a job with high demands but big rewards when there is a job well done.

Q: What’s been your most memorable moment while working for DentalOne?

A: There are several, but I love moments when patients show gratitude to the team for treating them with the utmost optimal care.

Q: What makes your team unique?

A: Team Novi strives to meet its goals while keeping patient satisfaction as a high priority.

Q: If you had to describe your team in one word, what would it be and why?

A: Family. Even though we are part of a large corporation, we remind ourselves how important a solid team is and how we have to stick together to make our office productive.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I like that I am in a position where I continue to grow personally and professionally. This position has taught me so much about myself and helped me in relationships in and out of work.

Q: What is your motto or personal mantra and why?

A: If you believe, you can achieve, and teamwork makes the dream work.

Q: What do our patient pillars (schedule, wallet and patient friendly) mean to you?

A: A productive schedule = a satisfied provider = patient satisfaction.
