Today, the spotlight is on Chrissy Frisby. She’s the Operations Leader at Village Elm Dental Care in Frisco, Texas. She joined the DentalOne family 15 years ago. Let’s dive into her Q. and A.!
Q: Why did you choose to join the DentalOne family? And what sets DentalOne apart from other organizations?
A: I love the daily interactions with patients and the opportunity to grow and develop my career. DentalOne is the first dental company I’ve worked for, so I can’t personally compare it to other DSOs. However, I previously worked at a home office for a very large corporation, and the communication and support DentalOne provides far exceeds my previous experience.
Q: What three words would you use to describe your role?
A: Servant Leadership: I lead by example and exhibit model behavior. Business Owner: I think of myself as a business owner to ensure profitability. Motivator: I provide daily recognition to team members. I celebrate wins, birthdays and anniversaries with the doctor and team, and I always have a positive mindset.
Q: As a leader, how do you keep your team motivated and excited about providing top-notch patient care?
A: I keep them motivated through servant leadership. I take on a role-model position in the office and lead by example on a daily basis. I stay positive even in tough situations. I verbally acknowledge team members when they go above and beyond and share all practice wins with them. We have a very good core team, and our patients not only see how well we work together but also feel it, which is reflected in the care they receive.
Q: What advice would you give to others who are considering accepting a position as an Operations Leader with DentalOne?
A: If given the opportunity, they should absolutely take it! It’s a career they will enjoy and find fulfilling. They will reap the rewards of helping others.
Q: What’s been your most memorable moment while working for DentalOne?
A: Our annual Christmas Operations Leader meeting is always the most memorable and fun, but one year, we decided to have a white elephant gift exchange based on “As seen on TV” items. We laughed so hard as everyone exchanged gifts, and my current male Director of Market Operations, who was an Operations Leader at the time, ended up with all of the female products. Fun memories!
Q: What makes your team unique?
A: We are great communicators. We understand the definition of teamwork and are willing to help out whenever and wherever needed. We always put the patient first, and we absolutely love to have fun. If we have a meeting with a certain theme or a dress-up day, we always go all out. We also love to help our local community.
Q: If you had to describe your team in one word, what would it be?
A: Cohesive. My team understands each other extremely well, and we can anticipate when/if help is needed.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I have been at my practice for more than 11 years now, so I love the relationships I have been able to build with my patients over time.
Q: What is your motto or personal mantra and why?
A: “Go the extra mile. It’s never crowded.” I like this saying, because it reminds me to go above and beyond the norm, and that’s what sets our practice apart from others.
Q: What do our patient pillars (schedule, wallet and patient friendly) mean to you?
A: Being schedule friendly means we respect our patients’ time in the office. Being wallet friendly means we will help them in any way we can to ensure they are set up financially for their recommended treatment. Being patient friendly means we will welcome them in our office as a member of the family.
